We would like to draw the attention of our readers to the recently published Socialist Register (Merlin Press, 30s)—first of a projected series of yearly volumes. This first volume contains a wide range of articles: Deutscher on Maoism, Abdel-Malek on Egypt, Miliband on the myth of the golden past, Alavi on some recent theories of imperialism and Savile on the politics of Encounter, among others.
